It’s pictures like these that remind you whoever said “a picture is worth 1000 words” was totally dead on. To everyone else its a pretty legit picture of some rapids, a great day, its a river in petawawa to be exact. But to me it was a moment in time that defined me as a human being. As i risked a knee cap to get this shot behind me was a guy that i spent most of my teenage years ridiculing, and if you ask me why i did this i could not for the life of me tell you. My first response would probably be because he appaeared to be a ladies man, trouble i suppose. But he was my neighbour i was stuck with him. Now i look back and realize i looked forward to the time of day where i got to tell him off or make a joke about him, because whenever i did so there was this smile, a smile that i cannot bring to justice with my words. That day at that river was one of my more awkward moments, just basking in the sun and uncertainty, but as he sat there, crippled and smoking, he gave me a half smile, and that was good enough for me. It was there that i realized that at that moment in time i would continue to put myself on a rollercoaster that i normally wouldnt sign up for. It has really only been two months but i find myself being more patient and understanding than i ever have in my entire life. I work harder than i ever have for that smile.
